The ‘Europaturm’, translated as Tower of Europe, is over three hundred metres high, roughly equivalent to that of the Eiffel Tower, and was built in 1979.
Locals call it the "Ginnheimer Spargel", which means Ginnheimer asparagus, even though the telecommunications tower is not located in Ginnheimar, but in Bockenheim.
From all over Frankfurt the Europe Tower is visible. At night lights illuminate the tower in magenta, reflecting the owner’s corporate colors.
For many years the upper part of the structure housed a restaurant and discotheque, but since 1999 the Europe Tower has been closed to the public, and more sadly, the disco dancers.
The Tower of Europe is not open to the public.
