The Commerzbank Tower was, for some time, the highest office building in Europe. It is about 260 metres high and has space for over 2,000 staff.
The Commerzbank Tower is an impressive skyscraper that gave Frankfurt am Main some recognition that it was like partially like Manhattan, or Mainhattan (from Frankfurt am Main) as the locals like to suggest with a smile.
Still, Frankfurt offers many financial services in Europe, and all financial capitals need high density office space, preferably with a view of something other than another skyscraper.
The Commerzbank Tower has great views over Frankfurt. The glass façade, part of the energy-saving design, conceals nine gardens, making this building one of the first ecological skyscrapers in the world. There is even a Sky Garden, a place high in the tower for employees to look out over the city and relax, surrounded by small trees and grass. The Sky Garden is also an impressive site for corporate events.
The Commerzbank Tower is not open to the public, unless of course you get a job in finance in Frankfurt, or contact Commerzbank to arrange a private tour.
From almost anywhere in Frankfurt you can see the Commerzbank Tower, it acts as a marker of the Innenstadt / the city centre.
